The FCC Stamford Thanksgiving Dinner was started by church member Eleanor Mellor in 1971. As Thanksgiving was approaching that year, Eleanor was dreading this special holiday because both of her sons were far away from home, serving in the Vietnam War. In the spirit that fills this church, Eleanor decided to host Thanksgiving Dinner in the church and invite other members who would otherwise be at home alone. The tradition of hosting Thanksgiving Dinner has continued to grow throughout the years. Since then, we have been coordinating a sit-down family-style turkey dinner with all the fixings. This dinner now serves hundreds of people who might otherwise be hungry or lonely on Thanksgiving Day. All are welcome.
